Group D has ended, which means we know all of the quarter-finalists. Last team to join the playoffs participants list is Sangal which has won both elimination and decider matches today.
Sangal is a Turkish esports organization founded in 2017. Their newest player is Efekan ‘S3NSEY’ Topaloglu who has officially joined the team in April 2021, replacing Ekrem “l0gicman” Aydın. Three of their players have represented Space Soldiers in the past, which makes them the veterans of the Turkish CS:GO scene. This is the second time in a row that they’ve proceeded to the EDC playoff stage, but last time, they lost in a quarter-final against team Endpoint. They are currently placed at the 54th position in the HLTV ranking which makes them the highest ranked team in their country.
On their way to the playoffs, they lost 14-16 after a very close opening match against Tricked, which forced them to play in an elimination match the next day. Then, they picked up a very convincing win over eClub Brugge, and took revenge on team Tricked in the decider match. They did not lose a single map in those two bo3 series, and will now compete in the playoff stage which starts on June 24th. The grand final is scheduled for June 27th and the winner will get $17,500 and a bootcamp in Malta as a prize.
