Movistar Riders got the last slot to the finals of the first season of the European Development Championship. The international team, contrary to the opinions of experts, took second place in group D.
Movistar Riders has been closely associated with the Spanish scene for years. In the current roster representing the brand of MR, we can still find two representatives of Spain, but in August this year it was decided to start the adventure with an international squad. From then on, Lucas “steel” Benedito Lopes and co. hovered around the 50th position in the HLTV ranking.
Taking the second place in Group D by Movistar Riders was quite a surprise, especially after losing the inaugural match to Espada. On the second day of the competition, the team managed to eliminate BEZ ZP, and then played a very close rematch. After a few extra times on the second map, they proved that yesterday’s loss to the Russian team was only a liitle accident at work.
The first opponent of Movistar Riders in the playoffs will be Endpoint, which after eliminating forZe and Espada are the highest-ranked team among the participants. This quarter-final will start on Thursday at 10:00 CET.
