Quarterfinals full of surprises; Endpoint and HellRaisers are eliminated from the tournament
The playoffs in the European Development Championship brought two big surprises. The favorites fell in the first two quarter-finals.
Endpoint and Movistar Riders met in the first game of the EDC playoff. The team playing for the British organisation was considered to be the favorite of this match. The first argument for Endpoint was the first position in Group A, and the second was 29th in the world ranking. Nevertheless, Movistar Riders turned out to be a better team today, and two maps only were needed to settle this match. The MVP title of this match went to Alejandro “mopoza” Fernández-Quejo Cano, who scored 58 eliminations and a rating of 1.48 over two maps.
The second quarter-final was a duel between HellRaisers and NAVI Junior. The Academy of the Ukrainian organisation has made another step in its miracle run. The team that took part in the main phase of EDC while still at Wildcard, today defeated one of the favorites to win the entire tournament. The team led by Dmitriy “JR” Chervak has achieved 70% win ratio in the last three months, but today they suffered a dismal defeat. Fifteen-year-old Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, who finished the series at the top of the table, had a phenomenal performance.
Tomorrow at 10:00 the next quarter-final of the European Development Championship will start. In the first match we will see K23 and SKADE, and in the second one, sAw and the Budapest Five will appear on the server.
