All four of the season 3 quarterfinals were played today. SKADE, Sinners, Ence and Endpoint managed to come out of top of their games and will now compete in the semifinals.
The day started with Bulgarian team SKADE competing against 1win. Players representing Russia surprised everyone and got out of the groups despite the fact that they did not qualify for the main event, but replaced ex-Winstrike in it. In the quarterfinals, they have been defeated by SKADE which seems to be in an amazing shape right now. It is their third appearance in the EDC tournament, but they have never reached semifinals. Until today. The game was very close and until it all ended, you could not tell who was going to win it. It went all the way to the third, decisive map which ended in an overtime.
Second quarter final was a match between the season 2 champions – Sprout and ENCE. The current championship title holders will not be able to defend it, since they were eliminated after a 2-0 defeat. ENCE won this one in a very convincing way and proved that they can compete on a very high level, aiming to win the whole thing and grab 17.500$ as a prize.
Third game of the day was a battle between Sinners representing Czech Republic and Anonymo, with Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski on board. Players representing Poland managed to pull off an amazing comeback on the second map and won it despite being down 5-13, but Tomáš ‘oskar’ Šťastný and his team left their opponents with no chances on the third map. He was the one to get the MVP, and proved that he is ready to go all the way to the grand final.
Last game of the day was a competition between team Endpoint and Turkish team Sangal. Players representing the United Kingdom picked up a 2-0 victory, with an overtime on the second map. MVP title went to Max ‘MiGHTYMAX’ Heath who played incredibly well, but all of his teammates showed us some incredible individual skills today.
The semifinal pairs look as follows:
- Skade vs Sinners
- Ence vs Endpoint
The games will be played tomorrow – 02.05.2021 at 12:00 CEST and 15:00 CEST. The grand final is scheduled for the same day at 18:00, but that might change. You can find the latest news and updates about the tournament on our social media:
