First day of group D is over. French team Double Poney turned out to be the best and secured their spot in the playoffs.
Double Poney is a team that started its activity at the beginning of 2021 and is already placed at the 24th position in the HLTV ranking. They have very experienced Alexandre ‘bodyy’ Pianaro and Lucas ‘Lucky’ Chastang on board, who as an ex G2 players are the true veterans on the scene. Recently, they parted ways with Nathan “NBK” Schmitt and Pierre ‘Ex3rcice’ Bulinge jumped in to replace him. In the previous season of the European Development Championship, they did not manage to get out of groups since they were placed in the same group with SKADE – current EDC champions and ENCE. This time they proceeded to the playoffs by winning their group and are one of the teams that might win the whole tournament.
In their journey to the playoffs they won matches against eClub Brugge and Tricked, not losing a single map. MVP titles went home with Aurélien ‘afro’ Drapier and Thomas ‘Djoko’ Pavoni. In their opening match they picked up a 16-9 victory and then faced Tricked in the group final BO3 battle. French team won 16-5 and 16-9 not giving their opponents a chance.
Playoff stage starts on June 24h and will last until June 27th. Final day of the group stage is scheduled for June 19th.
