Group A of the European Development Championship is officially over, which means we know the second team that secured their spot in the playoffs – sAw. They managed to pick up a victory over TPT earlier today and then won against Young Ninjas after a very close match.
Team representing Portugal is the highest ranked team in the entire tournament. They are currently placed at 21st position in the HLTV ranking, and they have never been in a better shape, since this is their peak. They are the most stable and highest ranked team in their country as well, and they managed to achieve it only in 1 year, since the organisation was founded at the very beginning of 2020. Their roster is very stable, and it has been the same for all that time. Before that, the majority of the current roster have been playing for Giants Gaming, and were considered as a ~60th team in the world according to HLTV’s ranking.
On their way to the playoff stage, they faced TPT and Young Ninjas twice. First match against each other was in the opening match. Team from Portugal lost it after a very close game with a 17-19 result. In the rematch, they picked up a 2-1 victory over Ninjas, again with overtime in the last map, where their stand-in for the game, Pere ‘sausol’ Solsona Saumell managed to win a very important 1v3 clutch and scored 17th round for his team.
We will see them again in the playoff stage which starts 22.02. Their opponent and the bracket will be determined soon.
